Supriya Sengupta: The Passage of Time

Now it is the right time to realize that we are ageing both in body and mind. We are not what we are earlier. These changes came very slowly without our knowledge. One fine morning we realised that gone are the days. The beautiful days of our childhood and the days of our youth. But this is inevitable.

We didn’t realize that those days were so precious, so desirable. But alas! They are gone forever! We can’t get them back as per as our wishes.

Different shades and experiences enriched us gradually. It seems to me that living life is like putting the beach into a jar. The point is not to fit everything in; it is to attend to the most important things first. The big beautiful rocks, the most valuable people and experiences and then the lesser things around them. Otherwise the best things might get left out. We should understand that there are things we cannot change- no matter how much money we have. There are many objects in this world we cannot get – no matter how much we want them. We should be content with what we have.

We are now going through a very crucial time and we do not know actually what to do. Our objectives should be clear and the footsteps should be bold. The question of adjustment should not be hindered in any way. We should not have any regret what we have done. There is nothing to gain and nothing to lose anymore. We must be strong in our standpoint. We have loved so much- and been loved in return. We should not shut out love for good- love is the best thing about life. We should not be afraid or ashamed of growing old or becoming ill. Every experience is an experience worth having. Life with all its limitations, obstacles and pain is still a treasure.
